Oh Sera has long observed the process by which images emerge in response to light, focusing her practice on experiments that utilize the properties of physical materials. Cha Ji Ryang, on the other hand, has continued his work by immersing himself in various times and spaces, exploring how the individual can fully confront and dwell in life.

In this exhibition, the two artists connect the keywords water, dream, and home, combining elements that overlap inside and outside the image through acts of observation and the process of exploring layered phenomena.

The word surface, drawn from both water and dreams, evokes the dual meanings of sleep and the surface of water — generating multiple temporal and spatial layers within the works. The exhibition space, reflecting the boundaries between inside and outside the home, or between water and dream, invites the viewer into a transition from dream, to underwater, to home. It calls forth dim, sleeping memories and evokes new reflections on the lives of former residents of submerged villages and the present condition of Daecheong Lake, which has now become a house of water.
